Prince Edward Island is Canada's smallest province, known for red-sand beaches, pastoral drives, seafood, lighthouses, Charlottetown, Anne of Green Gables heritage, Mi'kmaq history, golf, cycling, and the Confederation Trail. The Confederation Trail is a major practical feature: the province says it stretches 435 kilometres across the island along the former railway route and is used for hiking and cycling, with winter snowmobile use under permit when conditions allow.

Three to five days is enough for a strong first visit; a week allows beaches, cycling, restaurants, and several coastal drives without rushing. Summer has the most services and warmest beach weather; September is quieter and good for food travel; winter is more limited.
